Join us in the Caribbean for an incredible experience to explore the depths and numerous island reefs, teaming with exotic marine life!
Let us create a custom experience for you including private Villa, or private luxury-yacht for accommodation and a pair of Triton 1000-2 Submersibles for pilot and co-pilot. Tandem diving with two submarines, in constant communication with each other is an incredible way to see the reefs and watch the total joy on the face of your partner in the opposite submarine as you video them to create a fabulous visual effect.
Chub Cay is the perfect location for submersible diving in the Caribbean. It sits at the top of “The Tongue of the Ocean” (TOTO), a unique U-shaped, deep water trench originally formed as part of a fracture zone and then dramatically carved by erosion, as sea level rose over the last few ice age events (remarkably evident at 100-328 ft deep).
Its depth varies gradually from 1,100 m (3,600 ft) toward the southern tip of Andros to well over 2,500 m (8,200 ft) in the north, immediately offshore Chub Cay. TOTO’s only deep-water access is directly in front of Chub Cay in a dramatic intersection with a high concentration of tidal flow of the vast and shallow Great Bahama Bank.
Except for this deep-water ocean opening, the TOTO is surrounded by numerous islands, reefs, and shoals making a peripheral shelter that isolates it from ocean disturbances, particularly high ambient noise and transient ship traffic. The low-noise, shallow-deep interface, and high-flow phenomenon combined with incredible benthic zone, has created an ideal habitat for dense, exotic marine life, ocean science research and sub-sea technology testing.
The dives will take place from support vessels and this experience works exceptionally well in conjunction with a luxury yacht and we have a selection on offer, depending on the availability at the time of booking.
